Oscar Awards 2023 Jewelry: Statement Necklaces Ruled

The 95th Academy Awards rolled out its champagne carpet—a color Oscar’s organizer chose for its “mellowness”—last night in Hollywood.

And it turns out that champagne, like a true red, goes perfectly with diamonds. And of course there was lots of sparkle to coo over on the carpet—and on stage, as a few celebs, including Margot Robbie in these show-stopping Lorraine Schwartz earrings, skipped the arrivals altogether.

Here are some of my favorite jewelry moments from the 2023 Oscars.

Gismondi 1754

Jenny Slate in Gismondi 1754

Actress and author Jenny Slate wore a one-of-a-kind Gismondi 1754 collar necklace called Abbraccio (which means “the embrace”) that took over nine months and 300 hours for the workshop to create. The piece features over 52 cts. t.w. of round white diamonds: 127 pear diamonds and 333 round diamonds; and a roughly 22 ct. pear-shaped Zambian emerald, all in 18k white gold. She also wore assorted Gismondi 1754 rings.

Fred Leighton

Ke Huy Quan in Fred Leighton

Ke Huy Quan, the Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actor (Everything, Everywhere, All At Once) wore a Fred Leighton c.1900 platinum, diamond, and black velvet pansy brooch and a Fred Leighton 2.50 ct. lozenge-shape diamond platinum lapel pin. A winning look!

Danai Gurira in Messika

Danai Gurira of Wakanda Forever wore diamond earrings, rings, and a bracelet from French jeweler Messika.

Rihanna in Verdura

Rihanna wore Verdura’s dreamy emerald and diamond “Stardust” cluster earclips (Verdura’s Stardust design made its debut in a 1944 bracelet commissioned by American composer Cole Porter for his wife, Linda).

Sandra Oh in Vintage Harry Winston

Sandra Oh donned a chic vintage Harry Winston necklace from the Briony Raymond Estate collection with a 77 ct. citrine center stone, diamonds, and sapphires.

Fan Bingbing in Lorraine Schwartz

Fan Bingbing sported gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz earrings featuring 85 cts. t.w. Colombian emeralds (the designer’s signature gem).

@hallebailey

Halle Bailey in De Beers

Halle Bailey wore De Beers diamond jewels, including the house’ Alchemist of Light Midnight Aura necklace (featuring 74.63 cts. t.w. diamonds).

Florence Pugh in Tiffany & Co.

Florence Pugh paired a diamond Tiffany & Co. necklace and pink tourmaline-and-diamond earrings with her signature septum ring.
