The jewelry spotting at last night’s 29th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards in Hollywood last night was downright tasty. Celebrities and their stylists used a heavy hand when layering (mostly diamond) pieces, giving jewelry watchers lots of sparkle to ogle.
And Hollywood’s A-list spread the love around when it came to jewelers: Red carpet stalwarts such as De Beers and Fred Leighton shared space with heritage brands (Bulgari, Pomellato, Boucheron, Dior, etc.), and less ubiquitous and.or newer brands including Fernando Jorge, Rahaminov, and Niwaka.
The trends? Men’s diamond brooches have gone from surprising to expected (which is totally okay—we love them); ear parties are still kicking for women, though they’ve become more polished and less punk-looking than they were a few years back (the ear climber and ear cuff are alive and well); and short statement necklaces that are thicker, more interesting or feature tangles of colored gems—a Bulgari specialty—are all the rage.
