Jewelers Mutual Group, which owns The Zing Report, hosted its first-ever thought-leadership retreat, Conversations in Park City, this past weekend in Park City, Utah.
The goal of the event was to bring together jewelry industry members and leaders, both established and emerging, across all sectors of the industry, to learn about forward-looking topics (such as NFTs and the Metaverse) and discuss industry-wide challenges and opportunities. But there was also plenty of fun to be had—the company arranged for some unique networking opportunities: guests opted to go on small-group excursions including fly-fishing, mountain biking, trap shooting, and hiking in the beautiful Wasatch mountains.
But the real highlight of the event, which took place at the St. Regis Deer Valley resort, was its lively sessions, which a few attendees likened to “a TEDTalks for the jewelry industry.”
Moderators and presenters included Iris Van der Veken of the Jewellery & Watch Initiative 2030, Michelle Orman of Last Word Communications and the Couture Show, and Jeff Weiner of PSFK chatted on stage with dozens of executives from both inside and outside the industry who shared their best business practices, forecasts on the future of commerce, consumer behaviors, technology, trends in jewelry and watches, and retail. In addition, Keith Levy, CEO of bakery and food business Milk Bar, gave an inspirational (and slick-looking) keynote at the event, which was emceed by Jewelers Mutual content executive Mark Smelzer and hosted by Scott Murphy, president and CEO of Jewelers Mutual.
The great conversations, both on stage and during delicious meals and fun excursions—paired with the stunning mountain environment of Deer Valley—prompted many attendees to post about the weekend on Instagram. Here’s what they had to show and tell!
