The Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) is hosting its 10th annual Jewelry Night Out celebration and membership drive tonight (Sept. 8) in 20 cities across North America. The annual event is designed to bring together industry professionals for “an inspiring evening of community, connection, collaboration, and celebration,” says Jennifer Markas, WJA’s executive director.
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the year’s key sponsor, funding a spate of special education presentations through local WJA chapters. “GIA is one of WJA’s longstanding supporters, and we are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with them!” notes Markas. Jewelry Night Out will also open the first night of the Hard Rock Summit trade show in Denver, Colo.
Many WJA chapters have turned the evening into a dinner and/or party with a membership drive attached. WJA Las Vegas is inviting current and prospective members to its local Brio Italian Grille for eats and drinks, while the San Diego chapter is hosting a cocktail party at an undisclosed location (when you RSVP, they tell you where to go). WJA Dallas is hosting a soiree at restaurant Times Ten Cellars, and entry tickets get guests two glasses of wine and “light bites.” See the full event calendar for all cities here.
WJA’s mission is to help women in the jewelry and watch industries advance and develop professionally through networking, education, and leadership development. And the organization plans to launch a special online auction during the month of September to help raise funds for WJA Foundation’s member grants, which are given out annually to individuals to use toward professional growth opportunities.
At all Jewelry Night Out events—and throughout WJA’s Membership Month (Sept. 1-30)—jewelry, gem and watch professionals can save 10% on new and renewing WJA memberships.
