The MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night were full of memorable moments. Nikki Minaj performed a pleasingly frenetic medley comprised of her top hits to commemorate her VMA Video Vanguard Award win; the Red Hot Chili Peppers paid homage to late Foo Fighter drummer Taylor Hawkins; and Black Pink became the first Korean girl group to perform at the VMAs with their riveting live performance of mega-hit Pink Venom, to name just a few.
The evening’s jewelry lineup was only slightly less memorable (in our very biased opinion). On the red carpet, the big jewelry houses were well-represented—Tiffany & Co. ambassadors Black Pink donned gorgeous diamond pieces from the house; Taylor Swift went for all-out diamond dazzle (head-to-toe) in gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz jewels; Ashley Graham also wore Schwartz, opting for bold diamond and white gold pieces that also gilded her dress (see those below); and MTV News’ Dometi Pongo wore a Cartier Juste Un Clou Bracelet and Gucci Grip watch.
But more often it was the smaller brands that shone the brightest. Lizzo wore chic gold hoops from Jennifer Fisher, but also donned cool, minimalist rings from Mara Paris, while Prince Derek Doll dazzled in outré yellow gold jewelry reminiscent of Ancient Egyptian royalty from indie accessories maker Marie Antoinette (see below).
