Spring is a popular season for popping the question (and March 20 was National Proposal Day!) so we asked fine jewelry professionals across the country to share their best-selling engagement rings.

Sylvie Bridal 14K yellow gold ring

Shelia Bayes, owner of Shelia Bayes Jewelers in Lexington, Ky.
Sylvie Bridal 14K yellow gold and natural diamond mounting with a 1.0 carat lab-grown oval diamond, $3,400. “Over this past year, brides have been moving away from halos to more traditional styles. Oval diamonds have been incredibly popular with thin gold bands. And lab-grown diamonds have increased dramatically over the past twelve months.”

Kathy Rose, co-owner of Roseark in Los Angeles
House of RAVN 4-carat pink sapphire set in platinum, $28,000. “House of RAVN uses a lot of different stones and they’re experts at contrast.”

Fox Seattle engagement ring

Jerri Armstrong, sales associate at Fox’s Seattle in Seattle
Ila 1-carat solitaire engagement ring on 14K gold, $9,550.
“We’re selling mostly classic, round 1.0-carat solitaires. No side stones. No crazy shapes. Brides are going for timeless and elegant.”

Carrolls Fine Jewelers engagement ring
Estate ring at Carroll’s Jewelers

John Moorman, owner of Carroll’s Jewelers in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Carroll’s Jewelers Estate 14k white gold Tiffany style 1.29-carat diamond solitaire, $3,235. “We’re seeing sales of bigger diamonds on thin bands. One thing that’s changed is that people are getting married later in life [when they are] more established, so they’re spending more on diamonds.”

smithandbevill snowball ring

Gina Beville, co-owner and gemologist at Smith & Beville Jewelers in Beaverton, Ore.
Snowball classic solitaire 0.79-carat diamond on 14K yellow gold, $3,450. “It’s definitely gone back to classic solitaires on yellow gold. Brides are adding accent wedding bands on both sides of the ring. They want all three rings now. In years past, the bride would wait for an anniversary or another occasion.”

Two by London ring

Scott Udell, vice president of London Jewelers in Manhasset, N.Y.
TWO by London thin pave radiant 2.12-carat diamond solitaire engagement ring on 18K yellow gold, $3,000. “The classic, simple solitaire in plain platinum or yellow gold setting is number one for us. It could also be a solitaire with diamonds on the side of the shank. Those are our most popular and timeless.”
